The KaneffGolf Academy is a leader in golf instruction, club fitting and corporate services. The Academy offers a wide variety of programs from a unique tournament swing analysis service, professional launch monitor club fitting and instructional programs to suit any needs.

The Instructors

Michael Crane

Returning for the 2009 season, Michael brings over 18 years of experience to The Kaneff Group of Properties, among his achievements: Top 50 Instructors in Canada (The National Post 2005), Ontario PGA ‘Teacher of the Year’ 2000 and Toronto Region 'Teacher of the Year’ 1998.

He is the Director of Instruction for the KaneffGolf Academy at Lionhead. Michael is responsible for designing the Academy programs and its teaching philosophy, which includes the hiring, training and managing of all Lionhead CPGA teaching professionals.

His last 8 years were spent as the Executive Director of Golf for The Academies at Golf Town responsible for the instructional operations and programs across Canada. Prior to this he was the Senior Teaching Advisor to the Glen Abbey Academy of Golf and the Director of Instruction for the Golf Dome in Oakville during the winter months.

Michael has successfully established reputable golf academies throughout the country over the years. With his experience and keen ability for hiring, training and managing CPGA Professionals it has allowed him to help thousands of golfers Nationwide. Michael’s teaching philosophy, communication skills and golf swing expertise has made him one of the most sought-after teaching professionals in Canada.

He has written numerous articles for CPGA Magazine, Golf Scene, Score Golf and the Ontario Golf News. He has also had the opportunity to work with some of Canadians top NCAA, Canadian and Nationwide Tour players.

Jason March

Jason is a seasoned CPGA Professional who has spent the last thirteen years in the golf industry. He joins our team at The KaneffGolf Academy from Angus Glen Golf Club where he worked as both a Golf Operations Manager in an Assistant Professional Capacity, and as a Program Instructor in the very successful Junior Golf Program at The Angus Glen Golf Academy.

Previous to that, Jason spent eleven years and turned professional at Dentonia Park Golf Course in Toronto, where he co-developed and designed the first ever Metro Toronto Par 3 Championship, which celebrated its fourth successful year in 2008.

Jason also spent some time in the Caribbean on Grand Cayman recently at the North Sound Club, where he worked alongside the Cayman Islands Golf Association, the R & A, and the North Sound Club to help develop their National Junior Program.

He has also competed in provincial and national level events as an amateur as well as trying his hand in PGA Tour Monday qualifiers as a professional. Jason’s true passion however lies in helping all levels of players with their games with an emphasis on beginners and intermediates.

Jason is thrilled to be working alongside Michael Crane at The KaneffGolf Academy and anticipates 2009 to be a rewarding and educational experience.

Brian Groves

Brian has been an Assistant Golf Professional with Lionhead Golf and Country Club and Kaneff Golf for the past 7 seasons working inside and outside the proshop. He has for the past few seasons taught all the Junior Camps and Clinics and also various Women’s and Corporate Clinics under Michael Crane and Kaneff Golf Academy. He has spent his past winters down in Florida working on his golf game with one winter season training at the David Leadbetter Golf Academy at Champions Gate in Orlando. In 2006, he had his most flourishing year winning the Ontario PGA Assistants Medal Play Championship at Grand Niagara Resort. He hopes to maintain his game while also expanding the name of the Kaneff Golf Academy for years to come to ensure it keeps its name as one the best public courses and academies in the country.
